The most versatile, zoom in (fine beam, very bright) for distant objects, e.g. in a museum or for use in bright light; zoom out (wide beam, not as bright) for wide-area scanning of stock, banknotes beads etc.

BATTERIES

This item takes four AAA batteries (supplied).  

This can take a  (plus ) - optional extra

- brightest for 5 hours (3 hours at its very brightest then 2 hours not quite so bright)

- then, over the next     hours, it gradually dims, it still "works" but not at its best

- it is still 'lit' for another     hours but too dim to be of use

Best alkaline (typically £1.00 to £1.50 per battery*):

- brightest for 9 hours (4 hour at its very brightest then 5 hours not quite so bright)

- then, over the next 3 hours, it gradually dims, it still "works" but not at its best

- it is still 'lit' for another 5 hours but too dim to be of use

Cheapest (typically 10p to 20p per battery*):

- brightest for: 40mns (20 minutes at its very brightest then 20 minutes not quite so bright)

 - then, over the next ½ hours, it gradually dims, it still "works" but not at its best

- it is still 'lit' for another 7 hours but too dim to be of use
